Liberty Dogs is a national service dog training and placement program and a flagship initiative of the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, focused on supporting U.S. military Veterans diagnosed with PTSD. Based in Reno, Nevada, with a state-of-the-art campus set to open in Summer 2026, the program is designed to provide Veterans with highly trained service dogs at no cost. Participants will take part in an immersive, two-week on-site training experience alongside their service dog, helping them build independence, confidence, and improved quality of life through structured support and companionship.
Beyond placement, Liberty Dogs takes a comprehensive approach by integrating wellness and education programs that address the physical, emotional, and mental health needs of Veterans. The organization also offers multiple ways for the community to get involved, including puppy raising, fostering, and guardian home opportunities—all fully supported by their team. With a focus on thoughtful dog-Veteran pairing and long-term impact, Liberty Dogs aims to set a national standard for service dog programs while creating meaningful connections that support both ends of the leash.
