Friends of CASI (Carson Animal Services Initiative) is a nonprofit organization based in Carson City, Nevada, dedicated to supporting local animal welfare through fundraising, community programs, and direct shelter support. Founded in 2012, CASI played a key role in raising funds for the construction of the Carson City animal shelter, which opened in 2016. Since then, the organization has continued to enhance shelter resources through contributions such as equipment, infrastructure improvements, and enrichment spaces for dogs.
Today, CASI’s primary focus is expanding access to affordable spay and neuter services, helping reduce pet overpopulation and support families who may not otherwise be able to access these essential services. The organization also hosts a variety of community events throughout the year—including fundraisers like Pooch Plunge and Bark, Whine & Dine—and offers volunteer opportunities for those looking to get involved in local animal welfare efforts.
